about us

Bear Community West-Vlaanderen (BCWV) was founded in 2025, born from a desire to bring together Bears from West Flanders—along with their supporters—around shared values: friendship, sharing, conviviality, and self-acceptance.

Within the broader LGBTQI+ community, our association aims to create a space where everyone can be themselves, fully embrace who they are, and live out their pride free from judgment.

Through social gatherings, friendly activities, "Bear Sauna" events, and our participation in Pride celebrations and various Bear community events across Belgium, we strive to strengthen bonds among our members and increase the visibility of our community.

October 2026 marked a significant milestone in our history: Bear Community West-Vlaanderen received official recognition from Çavaria, the Flemish LGBTQI+ advocacy organization.

In November 2026, our community took another step forward by expanding its reach to include East Flanders (Oost-Vlaanderen). Consequently, Bear Community West-Vlaanderen became Bear Community West & Oost Vlaanderen (BCWOV).

More than just an association, BCWOV is, above all, a community of Bears and friends who find joy in coming together, forging connections, and keeping the Bear community vibrant and active.

And this is only the beginning of the adventure!
